Theatre (20 minutes) Side By Side Theatre Company

We are thrilled to welcome back Side by Side Theatre after their triumphant performance at last year's Springboard Festival. They will be presenting a specially devised piece, taking inspiration from some of our favourite Disney stories. Through dance and drama we celebrate what makes us who we are, and the friends we make along the way!

Side by Side is a charitable organisation, involving adults with and without learning disabilities or neurodiversity. Side by Side develops and produces inclusive theatre. Each show (like the performers) is unique!

Poetry  (15 minutes) Andrea Mbarushimana

Music (30 Minutes) Carol Whitworth

We are so pleased to welcome Carol Whitworth back to the festival afher her magical performances last year. Carol is a singer/songwriter/multi- instrumentalist and sometimes DJ, who conjures finely drawn and shrewdly observed poetic soundscapes of astonishing depth and beauty. Her worldbuilding, drawn from experience in this ancient corner of our ancient magical islands, is populated by a cast of fascinating and nuanced characters. Whilst giving Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, John Martyn as her inspiration, Carol’s is a unique voice, rich in subtle metaphor, vulnerable yet strong; contemporary, but with roots deep in the subsoil of our rural past.

Drama (20 minutes): 'No Place Like Home' by Alexandra Taylor, Directed by Cassandra O'Floresca, Cast: - Bettina- Ania Cummins, Adler- Manuela Palfi, Applicant- Yasmin Hashemy, Guard-Timothy East

In this absurdist piece, set in a dystopian near future, Adler baffles Bettina with red tape and bureaucracy as she tries to navigate her way through what defines citizenship of a country.

Drama (15 minutes): 'Aunty' by Maxi Di Poet, Directed by Olivia Marie, Cast: Martin Jordan and Andrea Mbarushimana

This dramatised spoken word piece is a loving tribute to those people  who make such an impact on our lives. Aunty was a pillar of the family. She was loved, cherished and adored. She took the pain away not just as a nurse but she made everyone whole. Maxi Di Poet (aka Martin Jordan) is a creative spoken word artist and actor. He was part of the poets collective, 'We Are Poetry Nation' performing at Springboard 2024.

Drama (20 minutes): 'Scapegoat' by David Court, Directed by Dean Sheridan, Cast: Murray- Alan Wales, Devil- Alice Scott

Haunted by doubt and fueled by alcohol, Father Murray, a haggard Catholic priest world-weary from a thankless job, faces the ultimate test. His love for people long extinguished, he merely goes through the motions. Enter The Devil, an androgynous, arrogant, and exuberantly manipulative tempter, determined to exploit Murray's despair and shatter his already crumbling faith. A gripping exploration of temptation, despair, and the battle for a soul.
